Arts organisations in the West Midlands are making a name for themselves on a national stage thanks to Birmingham-based Meshed Media.
The creative digital agency, based at Fazeley Studios in the east of the city works predominantly within the arts and culture sector, providing a wide range of services to help clients to make their most of their online profile and develop innovative digital projects.
Managing Director Chris Unitt comments: “Through our work we aim to help arts organisations excel online. This might include developing bespoke programmes around ways of using social media, auditing an organisations online presence, providing advice for improvement and creating original multimedia content. We also look towards providing clients with a cutting edge, finding new ways for them to reach new audiences online’.
In the short time since the company was started, the client list has grown to include some of the region’s biggest names, including International Dance Festival Birmingham, DanceXchange, Bullring and Sampad South Asian Arts. Clients increasingly have a national profile, such as Apples & Snakes and Lastminute.com
Meshed Media thrives on collaboration and is well placed to draw upon neighbouring talent in the West Midlands region. They have already worked on projects alongside some of Birmingham’s top design companies including Made Media, Substrakt, 383 Project and Supercool.
The agency is also responsible for running the popular Birmingham Social Media Café, Film Dash, a 48-hour film challenge, as well as the award-winning arts and culture blog, ‘Created in Birmingham’, which celebrates regional talent. Created in Birmingham is even branching out into taking the lead on other projects, the most notable of which is a pop-up shop in Bullring, one of the UK’s busiest shopping centres. The shop stocks excellent local art and doubles as a welcoming meeting place and events space where talks and performances can take place.
The experts at Meshed Media are passionate about sharing their knowledge on a much larger scale as Chris Unitt adds: “I’m often invited to speak at events about how artistic and cultural organisations are integrating social media into how they operate. It’s not all business though – last year I undertook a month-long voluntary placement teaching web skills to young people and community organisations in Guyana.”
